  • Florentino Portero

    Florentino Portero Rodríguez es historiador y analista de relaciones internacionales. Miembro fundador del Grupo de Estudios Estratégicos (GEES) —del que fue secretario general hasta 2009—, y ejerce de profesor titular de historia contemporánea de la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia. Ha sido Profesor Visitante en el Centre of Contemporary Spanish Studies of Queen Mary and Westfield College (Londres) y en la University of Minnesota
    En la actualidad es investigador senior asociado y miembro del Consejo Científico del Real Instituto Elcano.

    Emeritus Professor de Economía

    Prof. Toribio received a B.Sc. in economics from the Universitat de Barcelona. He also received an ITP from the Harvard Business School, as well as an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago. <BR> <BR>Professor Toribio has led a long, successful career in the public and private sectors, as well as in academia. <BR> <BR>In the public sector, professor Toribio started his career as economist for the Banco de España (Spanish Central Bank). Following this, he became a senior official, first in the Spanish Government as the general manager of financial policy in the Spanish Ministry of Finance and, later on, as executive director of the International Monetary Fund, based in Washington. <BR> <BR>In the private sector, Prof. Toribio has served as chairman for several financial and investment companies such as Caixabank Monaco and Inverban, S.V.B., as well as on a number of boards of companies such as La Caixa, Nestlé, Abertis Telecom, Invercaixa (now La Caixa Corporate Finance) or Xfera (now Yoigo). Prior to that, Prof. Toribio held the position of research director at several banks including Banco Urquijo and Banco Hispano Americano.<BR> <BR>He has also served on a number of institutions and non-profit boards, including as chairman of the Spanish Institute of Financial Analysts (Instituto Español de Analistas Financieros), chairman of AIAF (Spanish Fixed Income Market), vice chairman of MEFF (Spanish Derivatives Market), chairman of CODESPA, and board member of the European Federation of Financial Analysts, the Barcelona Stock Exchange and the Círculo de Economía in Barcelona. <BR> <BR>Currently, Prof. Toribio serves on a number of boards such as Amper, the ITM Club, the Abertis Advisory Board and is invited, on a weekly basis, to participate in the CNN+ program "Economía a Fondo" (The Economy, in-depth). <BR> <BR>Prof. Toribio's research and teaching activities focus on business economics, monetary theory, international economics, the economics of the European Union and financial institutions. Prof. Toribio has published numerous academic and practitioner-oriented articles and case studies on these issues. <BR> <BR>Prof. Toribio has written numerous books, such as <i>Globalización, Desarrollo y Pobreza</i> (Globalization, Development and Poverty), 2003, Círculo de Empresarios, and <i>El Sistema Financiero Español: Su funcionamiento y reforma</i> (The Spanish Financial System: Its Functioning and Reforms), 1986, Orbis. <BR>

    Academic Director, EMBA-Madrid Program / Head, Negotiation Teaching Unit

    Guido Stein is Professor at IESE Business School in the Department of Managing People in Organizations. He is partner of Inicia Corporate (M&A and Corporate Finance). Prof. Stein is a consultant with firms in diverse sectors such as finance, industry, energy and professional services. He is member of The International Academy of Management and the International Advisory Board MCC (Budapest) and is a collaborator with <i>People and Strategy Journal</i>, <i>Corporate Ownership & Control,</i> <i>Harvard Deusto Business Review</i>, <i>European Business Review</i> and <i>Expansión</i><BR> <BR>Prof. Stein's books include <i>Managing People and Organizations: Peter Drucker's Legacy</i>, <i>CEO: carrera y sucesión. Escalando la cima</i>, <i>El arte de gobernar según Peter Drucker. Las ideas que están transformando el mundo de la empresa</i>, <i>La aventura del liderazgo.   • Juan Arana

    Juan Arana Cañedo-Argüelles es Catedrático de Filosofía de la Universidad de Sevilla, académico numerario de la Real Academia de Ciencias Morales y Políticas así como profesor visitante en Maguncia, Münster y París VI –La Sorbona–. Es director de la revista de filosofía Naturaleza y Libertad y autor de numerosos libros, artículos y colaboraciones en obras colectivas. En lo que se refiere a su itinerario intelectual, sus intereses se dirigen hacia las relaciones entre ciencia y filosofía.
