Mr. Pierre Vareille
Pierre Vareille has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Constellium from March 2012 to July 2016. Constellium, which is publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange is the second largest independent global player in its industry with 12,000 employees worldwide and sales of $6 billion. Pierre is now advisor to the Board of Constellium.
Before joining Constellium, Pierre Vareille was Chairman and CEO of FCI, a world-leading manufacturer of electronic connectors.
He started his career in 1982 with Vallourec, holding various positions in manufacturing, controlling, sales and strategy before being appointed CEO of several subsidiaries. He then served as CEO in different companies including Wagon Automotive, a company listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Pierre Vareille has been a Director of the Board of BIC and a member of the Audit Committee since 2009 and was appointed Lead Director/Vice-President of the Board in May 2016. He is also a Director of Verallia, a global leader in the glass packaging industry and of Vectra, a US diversified materials science company serving high-tech industries.
Pierre was Chairman of European Aluminium, an association representing 250,000 employees in Europe between 2014 and 2016. Between 2011 and 2013 Pierre was Chairman of the CentraleSupelec Alumni Association, the association representing the 20,000 alumni of this French ivy-league engineering school and he sits on the Board and on the Strategic Committee of CentraleSupelec since 2008.
Pierre Vareille is also co-founder of the Foundation Vareille, a philanthropic family foundation. The main objective of the Foundation is to develop the cognitive capacities of young underprivileged children through the teaching of violin to primary school children, but as part of their curriculum and not as an “after school” activity. The goal is to positively affect the children’s concentration in class, enhance their ability to socialize and listen, and improve their academic results.
Pierre is a graduate of the Ecole Centrale de Paris (now CentraleSupelec), the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (political science), and the Sorbonne University (economics and finance).
